DESCRIPTION
Departure is a release agent developed especially to meet the highperformance requirements of the aerospace industry by providing reliable releases without build-up on the surface. Departure is a versatile, non-hazardous polymer that chemically bonds to the tool surface and with correct application will not transfer to the part or other processing equipment surfaces. Departure provides easy, multiple releases and is thermally stable up to 500° F (260° C).

BENEFITS
Pre-saturated wipes are engineered to deliver Departure without risk of over-application. Less waste.

  • The applicator cloth holds the product well (eliminating rapid evaporation) and distributes a fine dispersion of droplets across the tool surface—providing easy control and complete coverage.
  • Specifically formulated for the dryer pre-pregs
  • Low surface energy for effortless, multiple releases
  • Eliminates porosity by improving resin flow
  • Easy application by spraying or wiping
  • No special storage requirements
  • People safe (no gloves or respirators required)
  • No fumes or bad solvent odors
  • Non-flammable and Non-hazardous
  • ENVIRONMENTALLY SAFE

COVERAGE
1 wipe covers 0.62 m2 (6.67 sq. ft.)
1 roll covers 62 m2 (667 sq. ft)

SHELF LIFE
1 year in a sealed, unopened container
90 days after seal is broken in a closed container
10 minutes wipe life outside of the container

HOW TO USE

  1. Clean the tool surface with Fresh Start according to the technical data sheet. Rinse thoroughly and allow it to dry.
  2. Treat the tool surface with PreFlight or AeroSeal RTC according to the technical data sheet. Wait 15 minutes before applying Departure.
  3. Pull a Departure pre-saturated wipe from the container. Make sure that the container lid closes securely in place so that evaporation does not occur to the remaining wipes.
  4. Use the wipe to apply a thin, even layer of Departure to the tool surface.
    • If the tool surface is cool or room temperature (below 35ºC), wait approximately 60 seconds and wipe off with a clean, dry, approved wipe. Apply in sections, overlap slightly when covering multiple areas
    • If the tool surface is warm or heated (above 35ºC), wipe on and do not wipe off. Continue wiping until the material is evenly distributed. Apply in sections, coverage on a warm tool may be reduced. Overlap slightly when covering multiple areas.
  5. Wait 15 minutes before applying a second coat. Do not re-use discarded wipes.
  6. Pulling a new cloth from the container, apply a second coat in the same manner as above.
  7. Wait 30 minutes before laying up on the tool surface.
  8. Touch-up: apply a single coat following step #4 described above. Wait 15 minutes before using the tool.
